#Additivism : masterclass with Daniel Rourke
For the masterclass/workshop, artists, designers, creators and thinkers are called to reflect on the potential of the 3D printer as a tool of play, critical expression, and community building. Over two days masterclass participants will reflect on digital forms of appropriation, in homage to the work of Shiv Integer (currently on show at iMAL). How can online 3D object repositories, free desktop software, and ‘weird’ thinking be used to inspire new forms of action and intervention? What is the potential of humour in forging ‘radical’ works in art and design?
After considering the metaphorical and practical implications of additive processes, and exploring the revolutionary spaces opened up by ‘Art Activism’, workshop participants will devise playful and conceptual 3D printable designs that have radical implications. We will reconsider activism as a form of ‘change’ and question the notion of ‘problem solving’ using dystopia, horror, and weirding as methodologies.
